Terratis, the startup that wanted to nip the tiger in the bud

Founded in 2024 by Clélia Oliva, Terratis is developing the production of sterilized tiger mosquitoes to reduce theAedes albopictus population. The company grew out of Clélia Oliva’s doctoral thesis conducted at theIRD in Réunion, the startup is supported by the Initium and the Montpellier University Innovation Hub.


By 2026, a pilot biorefinery will be operational to roll out the technology in two communities and a campground, with an industrial facility planned by 2028 to increase production.
