Innovation after-work event: spotlight on the innovative students of tomorrow
On July 8, 2025,the Orangery at Montpellier's Jardin des Plantes hosted the sixth edition ofAfterwork de l'Innovation, a flagship event organized by the University Innovation Cluster (PUI). The event raised awareness among students about innovation support mechanisms, while rewarding seven outstanding projects, including the brand new "Coup de cœur Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole" award.
Present at the event, Michaël Delafosse, mayor of Montpellier and president of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, praised a "flourishing" academic and entrepreneurial ecosystem, emphasizing the collective desire to "lower the barriers to creation and innovation" through enhanced collaboration between the Metropolis, the University of Montpellier, and SATT AxLR. The winners illustrated the diversity and vitality of innovation in Montpellier: Scanorhize, a revolutionary underground sensor for sustainable agriculture (William Arditi); CAVisca, an innovative genetic approach to treating childhood epilepsy (Éric Kremer); the ANR Sicle.e industrial chair focusing on a process for tanning leather with silicic acid (Gilles Subra); DocSimulator, a generative AI platform for medical training (Kévin Yauy); the YouTube channel Droit dans l'objectif, which popularizes law through scripted videos (Sandrine Grenier); an innovative dual therapy for cystic fibrosis (Magali Taulan-Cadars); and finally, the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Coup de cœur prize, awarded to Aurélie Perrin for a biological alternative to pesticides.
